The movie business is big business, and there are many romantic movies which have hit our screens and sent our hearts all of a flutter. One film which was based on a true event was the Titanic, the love storey between Jack and Rose was of course purely fictional, but this was a film which broke box office ratings, and for anyone who ventured to see this film on the cinema, was one film which was not forgotten in a hurry. The realisation that all of those people on the Titanic were killed because of pure ignorance, and the fact that they were launching the life boats half full, is an image that will stay with many. The fictional love storey between Jack and Rose, was also one that made the audience well up.
Pretty Woman, now this is a love story with a difference, a business man who falls in love with a hooker, whom he picked up on Hollywood Boulevard, starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, this is certainly a story which makes all the women swoon, and there are many dating tips for men which can be picked up from this film. Another dating romance related film which Richard Gere has starred in is An Officer and a Gentleman, the final scene is possibly what every girl wishes for, an Officer to come and whisk her off her feet at work, and who better than Richard Gere himself.
When Harry Met Sally now this is a romantic comedy which was filmed in the 1980’s. Starring Meg Ryan and Bill Crystal with that famous restaurant scene… yes you know the one. Ps. I Love You is a relatively new film and is definitely one that packed out the cinema, and it is definitely one for the girls. The first scene has you in tears and from then on you are unstoppable. The amount of women who were crying in the cinema when viewing this film was unbelievable, a film which is well worth watching. Now if you like a little more excitement in your films and don’t mind a bit of dancing, then Dirty Dancing is definitely a great film, one which is romantic and has a fabulous amount of dancing in. Patrick Swayze looks divine, and it is possibly one of the greatest and most popular films ever made. The story line is about a girl who goes on holiday called Baby and falls in love with the dance instructor Johnny although her dad disapproves. The dance instructor Johnny leaves but makes a come back for the final night, and him and Baby dance the final dance, which impresses everyone, and by the end of the film you are in love with Patrick Swayze.
Another romantic film which is much on the same lines as Dirty Dancing and is fun to watch the whole way through is Grease, starring Olivia Newton John and John Travolta. Great film which can offer dating tips for both men and women, mainly men showing men how not to treat a girl. All of these movies have been huge box office hits, as well as other films such as Independence Day and the Terminator which aren’t romantic, but are good to watch. The cinema is a popular place for couples who are dating to go, and the evening can be made as romantic or as unromantic as you want. If the date is awkward then you can sit in silence, if the date is good then you can cuddle up and enjoy the film holding hands.
